This caramel apple charcuterie board lets everyone customize their own candy apple! A sure hit for fall or anytime you want to serve something fun and festive.
I want you to think about how you like your candy apple — the coating and even the extras.
If your mouth is watering with all the candies and luscious coatings you’ve imagined, that’s exactly what inspired me to try and make a caramel apple board.
I don’t want to just choose one topping and a dip, and I’m also not thrilled about the extra work of dipping a whole apple on a stick.
I want a low-effort caramel apple bar that I can whip up in minutes!

Ingredients
Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples – Use a combination of sweet and tart apple varieties! I also like having the visual contrast of green and red apples on my candy apple board.
Caramel sauce and chocolate syrup – I’ve kept this dessert charcuterie board with apples nice and simple, but feel free to add as many dips as you want.
White chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips – You can also chop up your favorite chocolate bars. I just think it’s easier to roll up the dipped apples in mini chocolate chips.
Candy sprinkles and peanuts – Fill your apple caramel board with any toppings you like! You can add them in little bowls or use chopped peanuts and nonpareils to fill the gaps on the board.
Chocolate candies and gummy candies – For extra color and texture. There’s no such thing as too much treats when it comes to party platters.
Oreos – I think crushed Oreos are such a fun addition to candy apples. You can also come up with unique topping-dip combos for your apple themed charcuterie board!
How about Reese’s Pieces and salted caramel? Mmm
Lemon juice – Helps keep the apple slices from browning too quickly. I also had a great experience with salt water! Just use a ratio of 1 cup water to 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and soak the apple slices in the salt solution for at least 5 minutes before rinsing.

Ingredient Additions & Substitutions For Caramel Apple Board
Snacks
Besides what we already have on our caramel apple charcuterie board, you can add more snacks to turn it into an actual party on a platter.
Off the top of my head, you can go with grapes (or any seasonal fruit you like), biscuits, pretzels, and graham crackers.
Dipping sauces
I’m already happy with my chocolate sauce and caramel dip, but I bet no one will complain if their caramel apple dip board also has bowls of marshmallow dip and creamy peanut butter.
Fillers and candy apple toppings
For the best experience with your caramel apple bites, don’t be afraid to add a variety of toppings. I have made this apple slice charcuterie board with mini marshmallows, shredded coconut, granola, and toffee bits, and it was a hit!
Tips For Making This Recipe
Serving Suggestions
Serve your caramel apple charcuterie board with wooden skewers to give your guests a less messy experience. And if you are planning for a crowd, a good rule of thumb is one apple per person.
Pat the Apples Dry
Make sure to pat your apple slices dry before assembly! You don’t want to add moisture to the wood board, as it will make it look untidy.

Caramel Apple Bites Dessert Board Recipe FAQs
What are the best apples for charcuterie?
I like tart Granny Smith apples, sweet Honeycrisp apples, and crisp Fuji apples for variety, but the apples you can use are really up to personal preference. I would, however, steer clear of Golden Delicious and Red Delicious just because they get mealy fairly quickly.
How do you keep sliced apples from turning brown after cutting them?
You can soak the sliced apples in lemon juice or saltwater solution to reduce browning. Just don’t forget to rinse and pat them dry before adding them to the caramel apple board.
Can you cut apple slices ahead of time?
Absolutely! If you want to save time in assembling your apple charcuterie board, slice the apples the night before. Treat, rinse, pat dry, and store the apples in an airtight container in the fridge until you’re ready to add them to the apple caramel board.
How far ahead of time can you make this caramel apple charcuterie board?
You can make this caramel apple platter 1 to 2 hours in advance. Just cover and refrigerate until serving.

Instructions
- Gather the ingredients to get a sense of how you want to arrange everything on the board.
- Core and slice the apples into wedges, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice directly over the apple slices and toss to coat every surface evenly. Let the apples sit for 5 minutes.
- Arrange the remaining ingredients on the board.
- Transfer the soaked apple slices to a colander and rinse the lemon juice off under cold running water.
- Pat each slice dry with paper towels before adding them to the board. You can fan them out, arrange them in clusters, or alternate between peel side up and cut side up — whatever arrangement catches your eye.
