GATHER YOUR Ingredients
cook Time: 55 min
– 1 tart dough or pie crust – 1 lemon, juiced – 3 apples, cored and sliced – 1/2 cup granulated sugar – 2 tbsp cornstarch – 1 and 1/2 tsp apple pie spice – 1 cup granulated sugar for the caramel – 1/4 cup water – 1/2 tsp salt – 1/4 cup heavy cream – 4 tbsp unsalted butter
1. Toss the apple slices in lemon juice to prevent browning. Then, add the sugar, cornstarch, and apple pie spice. Mix so everything is incorporated and the apples are well-coated. 2. Roll out the crust and place it in the tart pan. Don't forget to trim off the edges. 3. Arrange the apple filling in the crust. Pour the leftover extract into the pan.
4. Bake the apple tart for 45 minutes or until bubbly. 5. Once done, remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. 6. Meanwhile, make the caramel sauce. Simmer sugar, water, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally.
7. Stop stirring once the caramel is boiling to avoid scraping the burnt bits at the bottom. Turn the heat to medium-low. 8. Allow the caramel to boil for another 5 minutes until golden brown. 9. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and butter. 10. Drizzle your apple tart with caramel and enjoy.
Enjoy!
