Instructions

  • Melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they're completely melted.
  • Add the rice cereal and stir until combined.

  • Pour the mixture into a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Gently pat it down evenly on the surface. Cool completely.

  • Melt the pink chips until smooth. You can microwave them at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring in between. Feel free to add food coloring.

  • Cut out hearts using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

  • Dip half of each heart into the melted pink mixture.

  • Decorate with sprinkles, then let the Valentine Rice Krispie treats cool to set.

Notes

  • You can rub a small amount of butter or water onto your hands before you press the rice cereal mixture into the baking pan.
  • For clean Valentine cut-out treats, let the Rice Krispie mixture cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting.
  • For a more vibrant pink color, add a drop or two of red food coloring to your melted candy.
