Blue Cookie Monster Cupcakes - Step 4

Blue Cookie Monster Cupcakes - Step 5
  • Mix on low speed, then gradually increase to high.
Blue Cookie Monster Cupcakes - Step 6-7
  • Beat for 2 to 3 minutes until light and fluffy. If the frosting is not smooth, add 1 tablespoon of milk and beat on medium-high speed for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the frosting is fluffy.

  • You can use tip #233 or #16 for decorating your cupcakes.

DECORATING WITH TIP 233:

  • Attach a coupler and tip 233 to your piping bag. You can practice on a paper towel to get accustomed to the pressure and movement of the tip.
  • Apply quick spurts of pressure to mimic small patches of fur. Pulling up as you release will create longer fur. For a messier look or if in a hurry, squeeze in a continuous pattern all over the cupcake.

  • Finish the frosted Cookie Monster cupcakes with candy eyes and half a chocolate chip cookie for Cookie Monster's eyes and mouth.

DECORATING WITH TIP #16:

  • Fit a piping bag with a coupler, then add a single star tip (#16).
  • Fill half of the bag with frosting and twist off the top.
  • Hold the bag at a 90-degree angle and pipe stars all over each cupcake.
  • To achieve the best results, follow a pattern of squeezing, stopping, and releasing. This helps avoid tails of frosting.
  • Keep the stars close together to create a fur-like effect. Make sure to fill all the gaps.
  • Finish the frosted Cookie Monster cupcakes with candy eyes and half a chocolate chip cookie for the eyes and mouth.

Notes

  • If you want to make the chocolate cupcakes from scratch, you can use the ones from our Halloween bat cupcake recipe!
  • These Cookie Monster cupcakes will look even better with high-domed chocolate cupcakes! Bake the batter at 400°F for the first 5 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F and continue baking.
  • Don’t overthink the fur piping! These monster cookie cupcakes actually look better with wild, crazy-looking frosting. I recommend using the grass piping tip for a fun, fur-like effect.
