grown-up sloppy joes.


sloppy joes aren’t exactly synonymous with gourmet fare. rather, the sloppy joe is a sandwich that often reminds us of our childhood. perhaps it was the tuesday special at the school cafeteria, or the quick and easy meal that our mothers would throw together and serve atop white hamburger buns between the endless errands and sports practices and music lessons that filled up an afternoon.

sunday roast chicken with root vegetables.

by definition, sundays are meant to be spent lazing about.

sunday is a day for languid, boozy brunches with best friends. it’s a day we are absolutely committed to enjoying the hell out of before the business of the week overwhelms us for another five days. lounging in the sun, going on a picnic, taking a nap…these are all very acceptable ways to spend a sunday.

ice cream is one of those things that instantly takes you back to your childhood. you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t remember that feeling of heart-tugging urgency that swallowed you up whole upon hearing the familiar chimes of the ice cream truck on an unbearably hot summer day.

ice cream is velvety, decadent frozen nostalgia.
